Over the past few months Convergence has been discussing the many different ways people are organizing around the country to ensure the integrity of the midterm elections. We’ve also covered the myriad ways the Trump administration has signaled their intent to disrupt election results, refute them, and generally sow chaos, such as the raid on the Ohio Organizing Collaborative back in June or the administration’s insistence on ICE presence at the polls as a means of intimidation.
May Day Strong is a constellation of over six hundred local and national labor and community organizations which has been bringing working people together since early 2025. Their purpose is standing together against the billionaire class and its war on working people. This election season the movement has been seeking to agitate corporate power by recognizing the influence corporations currently have on our political system and demanding they commit to defending democracy and election integrity alongside workers; rather than folding to whatever authoritarian shenanigans Trump and MAGA pull in efforts to corrupt the process.
May Day Strong organized a week of action in early October to place this pressure and demand on corporations like JPMorgan Chase, Amazon, Target, Palantir, and more. The campaign also calls on individuals to pledge to take a stand; inviting organizers and activists to sign a pledge which asks for a commitment that “No free and fair elections means No Work, No School, No Shopping”
Joining this episode to discuss May Day Strong’s Corporate Strategy campaign which culminated in that week of action, are organizers Veronica Mendez Moore and Jawanza Williams.
