Evan Bissell

Evan Bissell is the artist director at Another World Exists (AWE), an art, research and cultural strategy practice that connects radical imagination with implementation to strengthen holistic change for collective liberation. With groups around the country, he mobilizes poetic knowledge and practice in the development of curriculum, programs, public art, campaigns, policy, books, and convenings that build imagination, power, and capacity around the Just Transition Strategy Framework, including anti-prison efforts, housing justice, democracy, and health equity, among others.

AWE organizes Other Futures Exist, an event and gathering series addressing grief and overwhelm to strengthen collective capacity in the face of social and climate crises. Evan co-facilitates the Public Poets program at Youth Speaks, created the Arts & Cultural Strategy program at the Othering & Belonging Institute and helped found Richmond LAND, the first community land trust in Contra Costa County.
