James L. VanHise
James L. VanHise grew up in New Jersey, spent most of his life in Southern California, and currently resides in Raleigh, NC. As a young man, his worldview was transformed when he read an article by Gene Sharp claiming that nonviolent conflict, strategically employed, could enable ordinary people to achieve social justice and overthrow tyrants. He now researches grassroots campaigns and writes about civil resistance. James’ work has appeared in The Progressive, Peace Magazine, Waging Nonviolence and elsewhere.
