Averting U.S. War on North Korea: What Progressives Must Know and Do Now

The U.S. and North Korea are on a dangerous path towards a military confrontation that could kill millions and engulf the world in a nuclear holocaust. Trump has threatened, “to totally destroy North Korea,” and Washington has shifted massive military assets to Guam and Okinawa in preparation for a military first strike. North Korea is on track to launch a long-range missile with the capacity to strike Washington, DC, and Pyongyang has responded that it has the right to shoot down U.S. strategic bombers – even outside their airspace – for self-defense.

The video below features excerpts from forum presentations focused on this crisis by leading Korea peace activists and experts on the historical roots of this conflict: Christine Ahn of Women Cross DMZ and Ellen Choyof HOBAK (Hella Organized Bay Area Koreans).

The event was sponsored by the Center for Political Education and co-sponsored by Women Cross DMZ, HOBAK and The Catalyst Project. A video of the entire evening can be found here. The full video also features Kevin Gray of the University of Sussex, with moderation and poetry from activist veteran Miriam Ching Yoon Louie.
