Jordan Seaberry
Jordan Seaberry is a painter, organizer, legislative advocate, and educator. As a painter, he has received grants and residencies from institutions including Art Matters, Skowhegan, Yaddo, and the Verge Center for the Arts, among others. His work is held in collections such as the RISD Museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.
As an organizer, Seaberry has helped advance multiple criminal justice reform milestones, including federal sentencing reform, statewide probation reform, the Unshackling Pregnant Prisoners Bill, and the Rhode Island Community–Police Relationship Act. He previously served as Director of Public Policy at the Nonviolence Institute, as Community Leader Fellow at Roger Williams University School of Law, and as Chairman of the Providence Board of Canvassers, overseeing the city’s elections.
Bridging his artistic and civic practices, Seaberry currently serves as Co-Director of the U.S. Department of Arts and Culture and as an Assistant Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. He maintains a studio in Providence, Rhode Island.
